Below is a listing of business's, facilities and services available in Climax.

Climax Community Hall

  • The hall is home to many re-occurring and impromptu events in the community.

  • Friday evenings are “BINGO’ nights. Climax Hall is the only facility hosting bingo along the south line.

  • The Hall is also used for community and wedding dances, socials of all kinds, pancake breakfasts and suppers, the annual Fowl Supper and the annual Carnival.

  • There is a small rental fee for private events.

Swimming Pool

The Climax swimming pool is an outdoor, heated, public pool. During the months of June, July and August young and old can participate in swimming instruction and enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool. Instructors give lessons from beginning levels to Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross.

 

Extra events take place at the pool such as midnight swims, burger barbeques, and diving, synchronized swimming and scuba diving clinics. The season end splash is usually a day filled with games, contests, activities and fun!

 

Senior Citizen Center

This activity center is located in the Village Complex building. The modern space includes a kitchen for the serving of lunch, card tables, shuffleboard table, pool table and piano. The seniors gather to socialize and play cards twice a week.

 

This facility can be reserved for small social gatherings, meetings and private functions.

 

Library

The Climax Branch of the Chinook Regional Library, within the Village Complex, has a large collection of books and magazines. As a community library within the regional system, resources and literature can be obtained upon request from other libraries in the province.

  • Members can access the World Wide Web on the library computer free of charge.

  • A summer reading program promotes reading and library use for children and fun activities are enjoyed by local youth and visitors.

  • The Library is open Tuesday afternoons from 1:00- 5:00 and evening 6:00-8:00 as well as Friday afternoons from 1:00- 5:00.

Border Health Center

The Border Health Center is located at 301 – 1st St W. It has an on site lab and diagnostic imaging equipment with Laboratory Technicians available Monday through Friday.

There is a Registered Nurse in attendance at the facility Monday through Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The facility is equipped with observation beds and palliative care equipment that is available on loan.

The office of the Public Health Nurse is located in the Health Center. Home care also makes use of the bathing equipment located there.

 

Skating and Curling Rinks

The Skating Rink and Curling Rink are located together and share a common entrance and restroom area. Each facility is equipped with artificial ice making equipment and the ice is in from early November till the end of February.

 

There is unlimited skating and some regular scheduled hockey practices for area teams.

 

The skating facility is also used yearly during the July 1st Celebration as the home to the Beer Gardens and Barbeque Beef Supper. The occasional dance or auction is held here when large crowds are expected.

The Curling Rink has two sheets of ice and a club that operates square draws two nights a week during the winter months. The Ladies Bonspiel is a fun filled weekend that is enjoyed by females across the south. The annual open Bonspiel is held every year at the end of February. It includes a “Smoker” with live music and a midnight lunch.

 

Climax Tavern (Beverage Room)

The Climax Tavern is owned and operated by Dale Edwards. The Tavern offers cool refreshments and a chance to socialize. Special events are hosted and entertainment (magicians, bands, etc), are scheduled approximately once a month. Food is served during the weekends and when the local Cafe is closed. There are VLT’S on location and coffee is also served.      

 

Lone Tree Café

  • Owned and operated by Owen Hammond. This restaurant has a varied menu of excellent home-cooked meals.

  • The restaurant has a modern banquet room and will host small private events, as well as specially planned banquets to celebrate special occasions such as Mother’s Day.

  • The owner and staff will do catering for weddings, parties and meetings held outside of the restaurant.

  • Coffee time is popular and there is a daily gathering of locals to enjoy coffee and some fresh baking!

Churches

Climax has two churches, each providing the advancement of religion in the community.

The United Church has its services each Sunday at 10:45 am. The United Church Women meet for fellowship on a monthly basis.

The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church has Mass on the weekend, rotating monthly. The Ladies Alter Society is active with regular meetings.

 

Climax Community Museum

This museum has been noted to have one of the best displayed collections in the province. The collection consists of some 3000 artifacts from the districts pioneer era, involving the years from 1800’s to the 1940’s.The museum is an educational and entertaining tourist attraction.

The museum is operated by volunteers and is open daily in July and August with the help of a student employee. A most knowledgeable curator is pleased to conduct special viewings at your request!

 

Climax School

The community is proud of the school located here. Educational opportunities are offered to students from Kindergarten through Grade 5. (High School students are bussed 8 miles to the neighboring community to complete Grades 6 - 12).

Busy Hands Playschool

Pre-school children meet every Wednesday morning to play and learn social skills. The capable instructor provides lots of activities.

 

Climax Collision Center

Located at 200 Main Street, this auto-body shop serves the Southline with available collision and auto-body repairs. Quality auto-body work, painting, window repair and replacement are some of the services offered.

 

Sweet Material Things

Located in Climax in a quaint country setting is a fabulous store specializing in fabric and quilting supplies. You’ll find everything you might need to construct a work of art. Also available are quilting books and some small crafted gift items. The owner of this shop offers workshops and classes to get you quilting.

Ladies meet on a monthly basis to participate in demonstrations, share ideas, visit and enjoy a delicious lunch.

Open Monday to Friday 8:00am- 5:00 pm and Saturday 9:00- Noon with all postal services available.

The newly established liquor store contains a large variety of liquors and wines. You can also purchase gift packs of various varieties for that special occasion where a gift is needed.

Permits for all occasions are available through this franchise.

 

Badge Ag-Welding

Badge Ag-Welding is located at 103 - 1st Ave. It is owned and operated by Alan Akre. He will build or repair items to your specification that require metal construction.

Open Monday through Friday.

 

Climax Garage

The service station attends to all your automotive maintenance needs. A journeyman mechanic tunes and repairs as well as provides service for all vehicles. Tires, fuel filters and water can be purchased here.

 

Innovation Credit Union

The Climax Branch of the Innovation Credit Union is open Monday 9:00-4:00, Wednesday 9:00-4:00 and Friday 9:00-5:00 for all your banking needs. It is located in the Village Complex. The Credit Union supports local community events across the South line.

 

Anderson Physiotherapy

A knowledgeable and experienced Physiotherapist operates a clinic and works in conjunction with the local physician. She deals with all injury rehabilitation and joint and muscle concerns.

Clinic days are Mondays and Thursdays.

 

The Village of Climax

The operations of the Village and the R.M. of Lonetree are administrated out of the Village Complex.

Business hours of the Village of Climax office are Monday to Friday 9:00am to 3:30pm.

Dr. Louwrens is the physician attending the clinic daily.

Just Off Mane opened in January of 2000. Stylist Charity Coburn offers haircuts for men, women and children; perms, colors and styling. Also offered are artificial nails: acrylic and gel nails by OPI as well as ear piercing.  Hairstyles for weddings and graduations are also offered.

Owned and operated by Darryl and Michelle Smith, King Arthur's Fine Foods offers a Variety of Groceries for all your needs. Like a real country store, in addition to groceries, you will find a small supply of stationary, toys, and household items.

 

Lions Club

Climax has a very active Lions Club. This organization hosts events such as the Annual Fowl Supper, Annual Carnival, and Annual July 1st Celebration. The Lions Club Members help and contribute to the community whenever needed.

 

Robert's Repair

Located South of the Village on Highway 37, Robert's Repair is owned and Operated by Robert and Carol East along with their son David. Robert and David offer a variety of services including tire sales and repair, as well as vehicle, combine and tractor repairs.

 

Southline 4-H Club

Southline 4-H Club is a Light Horse club that takes in the entire Southline including the communities of Climax, Bracken, and Frontier. They meet regularly and host fundraisers such as the annual Bingo for Beef; as well as supplying lunch on July 1st and for events such as Auction sales.
